FUNCTIONS OF THE ENGINEER-IN-CHIEF (ADMN WING)

  1. Service matters including postings, promotions, transfers, leave sanctioning, Deputation, Sanction of SGP/SPP-I/SPP-II scales etc

    1. Of Engineers comprising different cadres in the hierarchy i.e. Engineers-in-Chief, Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, Deputy Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers totaling around 7000

    2. Of Ministerial Staff comprising Non Technical Personal Assistants, Divisional Accounts Officers, Superintendents, Senior Assistants, junior Assistants, Stenos, Record Assistants, Typists, Phone Operators, attenders etc totaling around 14,000

    3. Of Technical Office covering Technical Officers, Assistant Technical Officers, Junior Technical Officers, Technical Assistants, Technicians totaling around 3000

    4. Of work charged staff totaling around 17000

    5. Of work charge establishment covering electricians foreman Drivers, Work Inspectors etc totaling around 17,000


  2. Pension matters of all the retired Engineers.


  3. Appointments of Assistant Executive Engineers and Assistant Engineers.


  4. Disciplinary cases of all the staff.


  5. Conceptualization of Organization, reorganization, redeployment of different offices and officers as per the requirement from time to time.


  6. Maintaining Confidential reports of all the Engineers.

Thus the Engineer-in-Chief (Admn. Wing) is the over all authority on almost all the matters pertaining to the administration and the organizational setup.
